Introduction to Ashtanga Yoga practice

As a beginner in yoga it may feel intimidating to even step on the mat. Fear not - as with anything new be it running, climbing or swimming, you need to start by covering the basics to help you develop your practice and start building your confidence.  

In this workshop you will have an all-round introduction to the key elements which are essential for practising yoga on your mat (breath, bhandas (energy locks) and drishti (gaze)).  You will also learn and practise Ashtanga Yoga Primary Series  foundation asanas (poses) and have a go at standing and seated poses.  Finally, you will learn how you can adapt those poses once your body starts getting more flexible and stronger.

This workshop is limited to 10 students

OCTOBER: Ashtanga Yoga Full Primary Series Workshop

Join us this October for a full Primary Series workshop where we will address any issues which you may have experienced in your own practice.  The price includes  delicious vegan/gluten free snack and fresh ginger/mint tea by Kitchen. 

This workshop is suitable to someone with some yoga experience and regular practitioners.  Ashtanga yoga is a physically demanding type of yoga so if you are completely new to it you may wish to attend a half Primary Series class first (Tuesdays in Ilminster /Thursdays in Langport).

NOVEMBER: strength & flexibility in backbending workshop

Whether you are a beginner in back bends or practice them regularly, there is always something you are working on to get better.  Every body is unique and everyone's back bending practice is intrinsically different.  

In this workshop we will look at the elements of a back bend to equip you with the 'know' so that you can better understand within the context of your own body 'how' you can improve your practice and what you need to work on.

If there is a particular back bending pose you are working towards e-mail ahead so that it can be incorporated in this workshop.

FEBRUARY 2020: Balance workshop

Although headstands, forearm/arm balances and hand stands are not necessary to practice yoga, they are a lot of fun and challenging for body and mind.

This workshop is suitable for beginners and regular yoga practitioners. Other fitness disciplines are welcome to join! We will cover the elements of what is required to lift effortlessly up-side down, your preparatory drills that will help propel your strength and how to safely take your practice away from the wall or other props.
