Get yoga-fit, yoga-flexible and yoga-strong with regular weekly classes  and workshops

You do not have to be flexible to start practising yoga.  Yoga is not about comparing your ability to others' in the class because even the beginners will have different physique, previous exercise background and a spectrum of strength and flexibility.  Yoga is not competitive.

Come along to one of my regular classes to see if yoga is for you as an alternative exercise or to complement your current fitness routine.

Ashtanga Yoga

Ashtanga is one of the more energetic types of Yoga. It starts with a repeat sequence of sun salutations, followed by standing and seated postures. In a mixed abilities class the teacher will make adjustments to the postures depending on each student's level of flexibility, strength and endurance. Regular practice will help improve and sustain each of those, progressing you to new challenging postures.

Why is yoga good for me?

Yoga is suitable for all ages and abilities - you can do the easier/difficult option of the pose, depending on how your body feels that day.

Weight loss: the dynamic sequence of  twisting, back bending, forward folding and balancing asanas which are synchronised with slow controlled deep breathing generates internal heat making you sweat, improves blood circulation and supply of oxygen to your working muscles.

Healthy joints:  the supporting network of strong and supple muscles, tendons, ligaments, cartilage  and bones is paramount to keep your joints healthy.  Being a low impact exercise yoga is ideal to help maintain a healthy and active lifestyle without punishing the joints.
