An after-work Ashtanga Yoga class to help you clear your mind, challenge your balance, work on your strength and flexibility and infuse you with positive energy for the rest of the week.
This class is based on the traditional Ashtanga Yoga Half Primary Series which focuses on building strength, flexibility and learning about the mind-body connection. There is no expectation of you to be able to do the splits or back bends to join the class. Just come along to see if it is the kind of yoga that you may enjoy. Ashtanga yoga is is dynamic and physically demanding so expect to work hard and finish with a relaxing yoga Nidra. This is a mixed abilities class.

What to expect? Ashtanga yoga is a physically demanding type of yoga with a focus on developing strength, flexibility and balance. You do not need to have previous experience of yoga but should be prepared to put in an effort and work across all your muscles groups and joints, from head to toes, including your lungs! This class is suitable for beginners and regular practitioners as I provide a range of options for each pose to make it accessible to everyone. You do not need to be flexible just come along to give it a try and see if Ashtanga yoga is something for you. All are welcome.
These are drop in sessions so there is no need to pre-book. You will need to bring own mat or book a spare mat ahead of the lesson.
Cost: £8.00 per class
Location: will be dependent on the weather conditions and may need to be updated at a short notice in case we need shelter from the rain. Balance in yoga practice is just as important as the strength and flexibility of the body and mind. It helps approach and tackle the difficult poses in the same way we tackle difficult situations in our daily life. In yoga, it is paramount to understand the demands of the pose on the specific muscle groups and joints in the context of the body as a whole and the biomechanical movement required to access it.
During this workshop we will explore a range of balancing poses from the Ashtanga Yoga Primary Series with some modifications to cater for a variety of abilities to make the poses accessible to all abilities.

There are many benefits in learning yoga in a One-to-One environment. You will have the teacher's undivided attention and the lesson will be structured addressing your individual goals. The lesson will be arranged at a time and location convenient for you.
One-to-One classes are suitable for complete beginners who would like to learn the fundamentals of yoga at their own pace; those with injuries or illnesses who require personalised consideration of how to modify some poses so that the poses can be accessible to them; or to practising yogis who wish to deepen their practice or revise their alignment or technique.
